I Deeply enjoyed this audiobook. I see why a lot of Pagans, Wiccans, & Witches PWW recommend it. Unfortunately, he died young he could have done so much more. I wish I had a physical copy to own and use as a reference. I also hope someone could update and add on to it because 33 years have passed, and some things have changed and modernized. This is one of my top 3 favorites of all the PWW books I have read so far. It contains a thorough glossary of terminology, parts of his grimoire/book of shadows, spells, baking instructions, offering, and diety direction. Highly recommendable. It can also be very overwhelming as it is full of information. Nonetheless necessary in our religion.

Spiritual book telling an unfortunate truth for indigenous women and girls. In the past indigenous people were taken from their families and forced in to a christian and eurocentric culture, Now with the violence, assault, and kidnapping rates being incredibly high many girls are missing...stolen. Unable to keep families together or in better conditions. This is one story of many. Then there is the bond. The beauty among the culture. For young girls to learn the traditional ways. On their first moon cycle going through the berry fast. Sweat huts, sage, community, activism, and so many other things tying them closer to their identity and protecting them as two spirited people. I deeply enjoyed this as i don't know any indigenous people i support and respect them and hope they get justice and peace.

I deeply enjoyed this book. I want everyone to read it. I am going to try and find the 2004 film about it. Assault, rape, abuse is never your fault. We all go through trauma but we are still responsible for our actions and choices. Beautifully made. I almost cried.

I have never heard of or read anything by Augusten before. I truly love this book. It hurts that i could only read it digitally. I have spent 2020 reading many PWW* (pagan,wiccan,witch) books and I hope i continue reading memoirs and books to help me learn more of my faith. I love that there are books about PWW people who function and live in "reality". Though we have many differences when there are similarities it is very comforting. I am born in the year 2000 so most of the references I had to look up or watch and I am glad i did. Gave the book more color (not that it needed anymore). I hope this book helps those who read it if that is what they need. Well done Augusten.

It has useful information. Reads much like a history textbook. Because the author is not pagan or a believes in the idea of it (assumingly) feels very drawn out. It can be a resource for Pagans,witches, and wiccans looking back at the origins and history of the life. I at this time could not find a reason to want to read it. Very much skimmed it focusing more on Chapter 8 The magics of Africa..., 10. Modern and future magic,and the timeline global history of magic. I felt that there was a lot missing. From the known and unknown knowledge. A lot of key PWW were mentioned and referenced. Over all the book is average and without all the fact and data below average for me. Maybe when I am older and trying to piece together my lineage it would be useful but for now it was not. Also a lot of the caribbeans and islands where not really mentioned only three times.

I love this book. Anthology series whether it is a book, movie, or series has a special place in my heart. This book has everything: representation, drama, growth, love (LOTS of it), diversity of bipoc (black, jamaican, puerto rican, hatian), queer (gay, lesbian, etc), cultural representation is food, music, people, such interesting characters that remind me of me and so many others in my life. Different from the stereotypes and assumptions made about black people diving more into who we are. Our passion for music, literature, expression, becoming our own, bonding with the ones we love, and changes in our lives. Young adult novels just connect to my deepest spirit. I was lucky enough to attend the Whiteout book tour (my first ever book tour) I was disappointed it only lasted an hour and a half due to flight conflicts. Hoping to get both books soon. Sharing with everyone I can who loves books to check this one out. All the couples reminded me of me and what I would like for myself.
