About 50 pages in I decided I had to look and see if the author was fat because I felt only a thin person could right some of the stereotypes jumping off the page at me. Yes, her style is super interesting, and the short story style chapters I think work for this type of novel but everything else was terrible. I don't mind books with protagonists you can't get behind but in this instance I think Lizzie was so awful because the author had no idea about how to write a fat character...who actually wasn't really fat. But, I do think the issues with body dysmorphia were super interesting in a novel, but would have probably been better written by a more sympathetic author.
