I honestly don’t understand the positive reviews. I read this in French and granted my French does need improvement but the little French I know was enough to pick up the blatant sexism, racism, and antisemitism. Not something I would recommend to anyone.

I am not a practitioner but was interested in what rootwork is. The author provides a concise introduction.

This is my least favorite in the serendipitous serious and I don‘t know why. I am a huge Christina C Jones fan, but I just couldn’t connect with Charlie and Nixon‘s story...

Was there a point to this story ? I am still confused

I can’t say much about this one. I read it in French and didn’t understand much. So all I can say is this left me mostly confused

A very readable and short classic. I listened to the librivox recording while reading my physical copy and what a pleasant experience. The writing is more accessible than other classics (maybe it’s a more recent classic first published in 1886) and the premise of the story is intriguing. Also I am still at a lost why the transformation into Mr. Hyde was so appealing to Dr. Jekyll in the first place (who wants to be a murderous fiend even temporarily?), this was an overall enjoyable read.
