Wtf did I just read? I'm so mad I spent time on this and forced myself to be confused for a week and 350 pages. Only to get 0 satisfaction and barely a tip of explanation. Nothing makes me want to continue the rest of the trilogy.

My first graphic memoir. Read for The Realm of Comics book club. I learned a lot about the Iranian or Islamic Revolution from the pov of a young Iranian girl. It's a coming of age of sorts. There's humor, joy, faith and family in this. Alongside the death, uncertainty, mysoginy, homelessness, drugs and racism. Ultimately this is a normal girl's life. And I appreciate that.

I think it was very text heavy, which in not used to in this format. And it was slow in some parts. But overall good read.

We get new perspectives in this short story. They are all dealing with loss and what happened at the end of Heartsong. Great to see.

Is this a romance. Is it more women's lit? I'm not upset about it. I liked this.

A good mix of the expected and the unexpected

This had what I expected of the sex scenes and the chemistry. I was not expecting was the character depth in Nate. Definitely did not expect the OCD rep. I want more is my biggest complaint. I wish there were more scenes of their growing and evolving relationship.

There are many times where it seems lip service is paid to reassuring us the readers that certain things are not unhealthy but then they proceed to do those things anyway. I don't know if this is making sense. But a big example is how Evie thinks to herself that she knows bdsm won't magically cure Nate's OCD in one night or a short time. But in the rest of the book, we keep getting examples of him no longer having certain symptoms. Some seem to disappear within that first day. It would be more believable if the book was longer so we see them over time.

I really loved this. I wasn't expecting to as much as I did. It really came down to how it was written. For the first half you think one thing is happening until you find out it's not. Something else entirely is going on and wow. That made for a much more interesting story. Team Human is still hilarious. The pain and loss still heartbreaking.

I liked this better than the last one. The story was more cohesive and Shuri much less suddenly standoffish. Art still ain't it for me. And this side quest for two issues is still overall pointless. Back to Nnedi and a new artist next issue thankfully
