Ugh. This is hard. I was so primed and ready to love this book, but I’m just very dissatisfied with this ending. The world of this book is so grim that I really needed more closure than I got. It feels like there are pages missing. 

Update: this is why you don’t review books immediately after reading them. I have sat with this for over a year now, and I can’t get this book out of my head. It’s nuanced and complicated and dark and so sad, and the ending is RIGHT even if it’s not happy or complete. This is one I carry with me into my own writing, and it’s influenced me so much. It’s hard. But it’s worth it.
