Poetry. Pure poetry in images and text. So melancholy, so optimistic, so profound. I can read it again and again.

Visually and narratively stunning! Can’t say much without getting into spoilery details. But Visaggio and Liew really outdo themselves here!
Only one thing missing: The book should have a trigger warning/content note at the beginning "suicide, self harm".

Great for everyone who loved Wonder Woman but wants to read something else than comics.
It’s also better than the average young adult novel and has a nicely diverse cast of main characters.

I love how the three stories/characters are parallels both visually and narratively. The individual stories about the women standing at the crossroads of what they want and how they want their life to are powerful and engaging in their own way. They‘re all somewhat bound by the circumstances and influenced by the socio-political events of their time periods but nevertheless try to find their own path. And them being ordinary women (in the most positive sense) and not great figures of history makes their stories all the more relatable.
I really hope it will be translated into other languages.

A powerful book about women, sexuality, society and Muslim religion in Morocco.
Hum not sure what to think about this one. It’s not overtly sexist and tries to paint her as an independent and strong willed woman. But the male gaze is still strong. Kenan Yarar‘s art in the first story is inconsistent yet not too off putting. Jorge Fornes art in the second story are more simple and paired with the colors by Celeste Woods remind me of Lazarus. Hum. Like I said not sure.
Sweet and lovely take on the Shakespearean comedy. I also like how these one shots introduce me to new talent and how differently they interpret the girls in their stories and art without losing their core character traits.
