I can't believe it's over 🥲

It's the perfect mix of Power Rangers and Disney's Incredibles! 

This book isn't bad per se  but it's very bland and full of stereotypes. Also the narrative makes some strange jumps and accordingly so does the main character, Alice. For me, the development of her love for Frank was not done well. Her relationship to Xander was awful and I would really have liked to have more Mimi in there, instead. Despite the 400 pages, this felt like an underdeveloped, rough version of a 90s film script. 

A strange story we get thrown into without much explanation. The general topic seems to be about the mistreatment of women in society and therefore a criticism of the patriarchy. Which of course I support. But the dialogue and narration is so clunky. The male main character is clearly on the autistic spectrum but it's not mentioned, he's just called "weird" and "unusual". And the female main character despite being put off by him chooses to continually engage with him but it's not explained why. I'm just puzzled by the whole thing. 

Finally the trial is over and they're travelling again. The dynamic between Fern and Stark shifts as I expected it. Wouldn't have needed that but eh whatever, I still love the laid back narrative and many quiet moments.
