The final grief scene in this wrecked me.

DNF at 45%. Look, Becky Chambers is a brilliant writer, but I hated this reading experience. 

DNF at 20%. This book is a mess. Some of it also feels like junk science and biased information.

Eco-terrorism, poaching, horse training and libraries. Solid writing, action-packed plot and decent characters. What's not to love?

This book legit gave me nightmares but I'm still going to read the next book in the series. That's it. that's the review. 

What happened to her is awful, just really freaking awful. I'm so glad that she is free and healing. The writing here is simple and straightforward--but that's Britney. She doesn't claim to be an intellect or highly talented writer--she just wants to share her story in her own voice and this book accomplishes that. Being around her age and having grown up with her music, this just really got me in my feels. 

This strange little graphic novel is simultaneously adorable and profound. Some lines were real head scratchers and others made me laugh. Worth the read for sure.

 3.5 stars. This was so cute. The Montana cabin setting made the atmosphere so cozy. The story was light with no trauma on page. Very low, almost no smut/steam, but the love story was cute. The camp rangers were just so adorable. 

1/1/24 re read: keeping the three star rating. This time around I have to note how much I enjoyed the discussions of feline behavior. This did get a bit info-dumpy, more than Gerritsen's usual style. 

There were a lot of things I loved about this book. The episodic chapters make it a quick read. I loved the emphasis on the importance of imagination throughout life. Anne's hopeful and grateful attitude is contagious. The lush descriptions of the natural world created such a cozy atmosphere. That being said, I found Anne to be a bit exhausting. The non-stop chatter drained this introvert, even though it was fictional chatter. lol. I liked her significantly more once she got older and less chatty.
