This is my favorite volume in the series so far. It had everything I love about the series in one volume. It illustrate the close knit bonds between the children and the depth of love they have for one another. It discussed some big ideas like the hedonistic treadmill and how one seemingly insignificant person can change the world.

Exquisite character work. Lush prose. slow burn descent into madness.

oh, Monstrilio. The bildungsroman of a monster, and I loved it.

I enjoyed this story. Magical horse racing. Peaky-blinders-esque atmosphere. My issues lie with the editor and not the writer. The editing was super sloppy--it read like an ARC instead of a finished work.

a slice of life story tackling themes of sexuality, obsessive friendship, toxic relationships and more. good character work. I didn't want the story to end.
hopeful lighthearted fast-paced

This was just the palate cleanser I needed. No stakes, light, cozy, pastoral, slice of life story.

If you like Star Wars, you might like this. I'm not a big fan of Star Wars so this was just ok for me.

This is a great example of right book right time. As I recover from severe burnout, I related to the main character and the themes and ideas so deeply. I love the way the author personified depression, anxiety, and burnout as a black hole that just follows the protagonist around. Absolutely beautiful writing as well.

This isn't as good as its namesake (stone butch blues) but I did enjoy learning about Islam through this writer's experience. I will always champion marginalized voices telling their stories.

Well. This was deeply disappointing. 10% of the book covers burnout. The other 90% discusses social justice issues. I understand social justice issues contribute to burnout, but that percentage should be flip flopped. The tone and style was cutesy in an off-putting way. And the advice? Nothing new. It came down to this:

1. Exercise
2. Manage your expectations
3. Set boundaries
4. Develop a social support system

Groundbreaking innit? (Heavy sarcasm there).
