The writing didn't seem good enough to continue.
The pacing is quite slow and the introduction to multiple characters, especially some that seem like one off sub-plots, made it difficult to focus on the central plot. Felt like I had read less than half of the book, but couldn't list all the characters introduced.
Graphic: Violence
I found the pacing very difficult in the middle. The plot is very slow and I just didn't feel like pushing through. The surreal sci-fi was more than I normally like.
The storyline didn't quite catch my attention and I found myself becoming less & less interested in explanations. More interesting books on the shelf waiting for me.
Hitting a Straight Lick with a Crooked Stick: Stories from the Harlem Renaissance
DID NOT FINISH: 18%
Struggled to read the dialog since many of the characters have strong southern African America accents from 50+ years ago. It was difficult with my dyslexia.
