When I first started this, I was a little apprehensive that it might be a typical horror story, resplendent with cliches and half-baked characters. Suffice to say that it was not. The direction it took was definitely unexpected and very different, and it was an interesting new take on a horror narrative that's been done before. The characters were very well drawn - even one character who was particularly hateful ended up being very sympathetic and easy to understand - and I would definitely be interested to see what this author comes up with next!
