I read this shortly after reading What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher which I think only made me love it more. There's an aspect to this book that having read What Moves first helped me grasp right away. Like an "ah, I see where this is going", in a good way. Feminist LGBTQ gothic horror supernatural mystery fairy tale: That's what you're getting with this book and it's magnificent. The two separate POVs from two different timelines were interesting and I loved how they meet up! It was conclusive in way that left me very satisfied when I turned the last page. Keeping for a re-read. Highly recommend.

I need this book series to become a TV series. The story is so binge-able. Not movies. Draw it out. Walking Dead style. There's soooo much excitement and adventure and crazy details in this dystopian future London that need to be further explored. The way I envision the government experiments, the gangs, the governor...And Dreggo, oh Dreggo. Such a cool series. If you like dystopian sci-fi with minimal romance, give it a go ✌️

What a beautiful story. I waited about two seconds after finishing Garlic & the Vampire before adding Garlic & the Witch to my TBR.

We LOVE Garlic. So happy to see Carrot, the Witch & Count too. & Stupid Celery I guess. This is a feel good book with such lovely artwork. I know I'll be picking it up again and again. Maybe I'll share it with my kids too

Oh this was a good read. I wouldn't have been able to put it down if it weren't for my overwhelming urge to crochet more dolls as I was reading it

This was fascinating. Like entering a racism vortex where I would read a line then: Gasp! You can’t write that! (because it’s racist) But then constantly having to remind myself that an asian author is writing it as a white character about an asian character and so you’re like: oh ok…wait a minute…ok…ok…lol So good. June drove me nuts a bit there at times, which I guess is the point as she descends into madness. I feel I would have handled this whole situation much differently than her. Like, why didn’t she take the notebooks at Athena’s mom’s house the first time? She’s not very good at crime…I think I would be better at crime than her. I also think I would have pushed what’s-her-name down the stairs when I had the chance…you know, go out all murdery ;)

What a precious book! I had my eye on this one for a while. I very much enjoy a cozy read in between books that are darker, heavier, complicated, longer...you know, a palette cleanser.

This one did just that. How relatable is Viv! I was rooting for her from page 1 and finding myself wishing I was a neighbourly resident of Thune available to lend her a helping hand. Or at the very least, become a loyal, regular patron of Legends & Lattes.

This book is, I repeat, COZY. I read it over multiple cups of coffee and even paused to bake a batch of brown sugar cinnamon swirl vanilla cupcakes. How could I not?
