Kristin cashore just hits something for me that I didn't know I was missing in the more current fantasy I've been reading. I think it's that her main characters always make logical choices with good reason. Just as I found katsa a soothing character in graceling I love fire just as much if not more. Loved the journey for Fire.

Certainly the most enjoyable one of the series so far but I still just kind of don't care about most of these characters. I am committed to the universe so I'll be punishing myself with the remainder of this series.

This book is deeply reflective centered on personal stories as they relate to art, primarily literature, but music and movies play a role. I really enjoyed the structure of this. It is a lot of Handler reflecting on where inspiration comes from and how his own works become something. I've never read anything of his outside of his work as Lemony Snicket but I do think I'll go read other stuff. The impassioned way he talks about other authors did have me stopping to research and add things to my own reading list constantly. This is genuinely a great reflection of how we shape what we experience and what we experience shapes us. Well written and with a lot of quotes that are talked about reverently and with personal meaning. I think Daniel Handler has always been a strange person, who enjoys strange things, and writes for strange people. As a strange person I appreciate the work.

Genuinely just could not get into it. I think it was the writing style.

Sorry to dethrone Dani but Eve has to be my favorite Brown sister.  God damn these books are cute. Talia Hibbert stays writing my very favorite MMCs.

I think without that spoiler I might have been more inclined to give it 5 stars. I do generally like a weird book about horrible characters. Maybe Lucy was just a little too selfish than I could handle. Writing was excellent though, I'll certainly read more from Melissa Broder.

Loved this book so much! Every character made such logical, decisive choices. I felt so in love with the characters and how they cared for one another. While there were some tense parts I'd call this overall a really comforting fantasy read. Love Katsa and Po.

I've been a big fan of Adam Ellis' work since back in the Books of Adam blog days. This horror collection does not disappoint. Each story is a bite size spook and ends with a personal anecdote giving the inspiration for the comic. The illustrations are great and so much of the background art is really gorgeous.

Whew was this a visceral book. It was written with such vivid description I felt oppressed by the Florida heat. Very strange, very sad, and surprisingly hopeful in the end. I think I never need to read about taxidermy again this might have been enough for me.
