This book absolutely deserves all of the praise that it received. The narrative structure is so unique and engaging. I was kept on my toes the entire time. Every character is flawed and human.

My only complaint is that none of these songs are real.

This is in the running for the best book I've read so far this year. It's not very trope-y so it's pretty refreshing. It's not perfect, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I ended up skipping dinner and reading for four hours straight to finish it.

I enjoyed this book. A lot of the major plot themes (powerful misunderstood male protagonist, strong female protagonist with a mystery parent, enemies to lovers, shady government, etc.) were VERY similar to the Throne of Glass series. All that being said, I stayed up way too late last night finishing it so it certainly had it's hooks in me.
