I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I read Rachel Hawkins novel, The Villa, last year and absolutely loved it. I knew I had to get her next one, not even knowing what it was about. It did not disappoint! I loved the dual POV and my favorite part were the letters from Ruby. This book has family drama galore! It created such a twisted tale! Every time I thought I had it figured out, another turn would jump out of nowhere! It kept me on the edge of my seat! So clever and truly diabolical. 

I have conflicting emotions about this book. When I heard that Gypsy was getting out of prison and have a new book coming out on Kindle, I immediately pre-ordered it. Curiosity always gets the best of me. Lol. I quickly found out that this is more of a pre-book, a teaser until her actual memoir comes out later this year. The writing isn’t great and I don’t feel like it flowed very well. But it was quick read and gave you a tiny glimpse into Gypsy and what her life has been like while in prison. She comes across as a very upbeat, kind person who just wants to have the life and freedom that she’s always dreamed of. But I (and this is just my personal opinion) feel like a majority of it is just a ploy to reach the “influencer” status she seems to crave. But I don’t know her or what all she’s gone through and this is not be judging her. My heart goes out to her for what she’s gone through but it also doesn’t justify what she’s done either. A real tricky spot to be in. With all that being said, I will be reading her full memoir when it comes out. 

This was such a fun listen! If you’re a fan of true crime and enjoy a fictionalized version of a Tik Tok wannabe influencer and his newly found writer half sister stumbling onto a crime in action, then this is the audiobook for you! Definitely has Only Murders in the Building vibes! It’s addicting and one I know I’ll listen to again. The voice cast was amazing and made you feel like you were right there apart of the action. Chase is probably my favorite out of the bunch lol who doesn’t like a Buffy tie in? Brilliant! (I want to say more but don’t want to write any spoilers! You just have to listen) I definitely hope there’s more #CrimeTime in my audible future!!

My first read of 2024! This thriller is captivating! I loved the different POVs and how you can’t help but love these characters, even if you just love to hate them. And the twist at the end was purely mind blowing! Wow! I can’t wait to read more books by Jeneva Rose, a brilliant storyteller.
