Neither here nor there...
Let me first talk about the things I liked.
I read this book via audio and the narration was amazing! This is a perfect example of how a book can be so much better if it is narrated. If I was reading it there is a possibility that I would have DNFed it at around 40%, but the narration kept me going.
Then the writing... I liked it. There were some solid parts of the story that had their punchlines, the prose was nicely used and really contributed to keeping the interest in the story.
Now what was the reason for me wanting to DNF it... well, I just can't get over the insta love moments and the accidental pregnancy and to make that even harder to read there is a miscommunication trope above all that. Things were developing so fast... He was in love with her at first sight, he was ready to kill for her...wait a minute boy, for who are you ready to kill, get to know her first, what if she is a shitty person and she played you. For a killer, he was pretty trustworthy towards her. The pregnancy and the miscommunications were just...why, WHY?! But as I already said the first two things were good enough to keep me going and I didn't regret it, the last 20 % of the book was good and we finally got an emotional depth of the characters, even for a brief part.
Now, would I say that it was a bad story, not really, but it wasn't great either. So the solid 3-star is what summed it up.

Amazing thing of being an ARC reader of an ongoing series, especially for a debut author like this one, is that you can see how the author is growing.
This is a story to get to know the characters better, and where we see the missing part with Cassie's parents and how things are setting between her and Damien (who is a dream boyfriend btw). This was a story of emotional development of the characters, dealing with mental health, set in a cozy environment with a found family.
I have read the second book first and now the pain that was so deviously immersed by the author in the second book feels so much worse. Oh how it hurts!
I have received an eARC from the author and this is my honest review.

This was an easy 3-star read.
The story was okay. I can't say that it was something unheard of or something so intriguing that I could not stop reading. I could... easily. But what kept me coming back to reading it was the well-written dialog between the characters.
I am not much of a "love to read about all the drama" person, and the progress of the story felt predictable but it was the dialog that was so well written that I enjoyed seeing it resolve its way to the end.
So if you love some drama, this is right up your alley, if not, maybe skip this one.
I know it was enough drama for me but I will probably give the next book a try... Maybe it will bring something new and original to the table.
