I was interested in the story right away, just from reading the synopsis of this book.
But... it didn't start as strong as I imagined it would be. The first part of the book had some repetitive moments regarding the survival of the heroine and the description of the characters she was encountering. There were even some parts exaggerated in order to form a more frightening situation but it was just over the top, even for a fantasy.
Then, somewhere in the middle part of the story, everything got better. The dialog, the writing, the plot ...everything was so enjoyable to read.
As for the story itself, it has a really interesting premise and it is inspired by Norse mythology so if you like the world of gods and their mysteries, this would be interesting to you. There were some rushed parts while some parts could have been brought up sooner, so the pacing was a bit off but it got wrapped up in the end. It does end in a cliffhanger, so be prepared to need the next book to find out what will happen next.
I received an eARC for this book and this is my honest review.
I loved this one.
This was a perfect representation of how life could be hard and unforgiving but the way you stand up to it determins if you get what you want in the end or you end up losing it all.
Dacota and Sophia are so different from the outside but so much the same soul on the inside. I enjoyed how their relationship developed from the unknowing shaking ground to the strong and determined bond between two people.
Even when the hard times hit and the blow is something you can not withstand, ask yourself, what can I gain from this? With that answer, you will grow. This is the perfect example of that.
Be bold, be magic, be a star.

Let me first talk about the things I liked.
I read this book via audio and the narration was amazing! This is a perfect example of how a book can be so much better if it is narrated. If I was reading it there is a possibility that I would have DNFed it at around 40%, but the narration kept me going.
Then the writing... I liked it. There were some solid parts of the story that had their punchlines, the prose was nicely used and really contributed to keeping the interest in the story.
Now what was the reason for me wanting to DNF it... well, I just can't get over But as I already said the first two things were good enough to keep me going and I didn't regret it, the last 20 % of the book was good and we finally got an emotional depth of the characters, even for a brief part.
Now, would I say that it was a bad story, not really, but it wasn't great either. So the solid 3-star is what summed it up.

the insta love moments and the accidental pregnancy and to make that even harder to read there is a miscommunication trope above all that. Things were developing so fast... He was in love with her at first sight, he was ready to kill for her...wait a minute boy, for who are you ready to kill, get to know her first, what if she is a shitty person and she played you. For a killer, he was pretty trustworthy towards her. The pregnancy and the miscommunications were just...why, WHY?!Now, would I say that it was a bad story, not really, but it wasn't great either.
