I liked this one a lot. Cute, fun, relatable. Strong character work. Predictably annoying third act conflict but at least it didn't last too long.

I didn't realise this was a dystopian when I picked it up and I am a sucker for this subgenre. Moments of weakness in the end did little to detract from my experience.

I was enjoying this book right up until the FMC, a smart and driven woman who succeeded through medical school and into surgical residency, gave it up for an unrealistic job that paid her to make ceramics as a near-beginner and somehow not drown under years of student loans in the process. Sure, we might pick the wrong career for ourselves and need to change course, but be real - cutesy art jobs aren't just floating around waiting for someone who only got into the craft a year ago. You'd be lucky to find a volunteer position that gave you some free time on the wheel in exchange for some work. Reeks of privileged "do what you love" career advice that is completely unrealistic for most people.

Loses half a star for Oyster :(
