Pretty good follow up to the first book, while being very different in theme and tone. This book also felt younger than the first. My favorite parts were the wlw/ace companionship, which made me very happy.

Overall though, this felt a bit like a knockoff version of the Memoirs of Lady Trent series by Marie Brennan, which is a superior series. If you liked this book, you'd love those. (Which also include side characters who are ace and trans, if that's of interest, though the main character is cishet.)

I don't know, 3-3.5 stars? The first two books are so so good, but I don't feel like this was a strong conclusion. Unsure whether I'll read on in the series after this end to the "trilogy".

This was a weird book. It had interesting concepts but never really came together. The writing and tone were inconsistent and it really felt like an early draft, not a completed novel.
