A beautiful queer retelling of The Great Gatsby. The prose is lush and dreamy, making the book an enjoyable read. All of the characters aside from "Nick" and "Gatsby" are gender swapped and many are queer. Aside from this the story follows the plot of the original novel with very little deviation. Overall a really well written story but I'm not sure it stands alone enough as a retelling.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Really good information and a very easy read. I liked it a lot and would definitely recommend it. My only criticism is that it felt like a primer, like every chapter was an introductory essay to a longer book I'd like to read. I just wanted to go deeper into the topics!

No criticism, but just wasn't for me. Should be read while going through a tough break-up for most appreciation.

I really liked this! (Despite some criticisms.)

Diana is a total Mary Sue. Matthew is whatever the male version is. She is the most special and powerful witch of all time and he's an ancient vampire who was friends with every major historical figure. In many ways, it's Twilight for adults.

But I like it anyway! It's well written and the romance makes my heart flutter. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
