This is described as a feminist, psychological horror and I fully agree. Definitely don’t read this if you’re squeamish about eyes, I’m not but I still found it bordering on too gruesome. That said, I still really enjoying reading this, I finished the entire book in one sitting. It’s fast paced and addictive, all the characters are realistic. I think I’ve met each character in real life at least once. I feel like there may have been a deeper meaning that maybe I wasn’t smart enough to catch but I still think it was a good take on fetishization of BIPOC women and the real struggles that result from it. Overall if you’re looking for your next unhinged hot girl revenge thriller this is it.

Foul days is based on Bulgarian folklore and it makes such a great fantasy read. The entire book was so immersive and the narrator did a fantastic job with the audio. I’m glad I listened to this because I wouldn’t have known how to pronounce anything. All of the monsters and folklore were new to me but I didn’t feel like anything was confusing. Kisses and Asen are wonderful characters to follow and I can’t wait for the next book!

This is a cozy cottagecore romantasy book, in the same vein as Legends and Lattes. I listened to the audiobook and it made me feel like it was written and narrated by Rapunzel from Tangled, it definitely added to the whimsy of the story. I felt like this was a little bit higher stakes than the average cozy fantasy but there’s still a happily ever after. The side characters were great, especially the plants which again added to the Disney vibes. There’s also found family and a bit of humour so overall really we’ll rounded in terms of theme. I think there’s enough characters that they could get a spin off but I’m not sure what the plot would be since it seems like most things were resolved. I would pick this up if your looking for your next fun cozy fantasy book

I really really enjoyed this, it was a lot of fun to read. It’s a blend of humour and fantasy, fast paced with high stakes, I had a hard time putting it down. The world building was really good, blending fantasy elements within a contemporary setting. All of the characters were well developed and I was invested in almost all of them. I also think this would be a great audiobook. I think there could have been a bit more about the Drakeford family in the beginning but I think that’s just my personal preference. Overall a really interesting read with a unique plot. The Witchstone comes out on June 18

This was a super fun read! It’s about a local community centre that’s in danger of being shut down, and the seniors club that is determined to save it. I love stories about elderly people behaving badly and this was no exception. It really reminded me Last Chance Library by Freya Sampson so if you liked that you’ll like this as well. It’s so wholesome, heartwarming and funny. All of the characters have their secrets and they help each other overcome the obstacles in their lives. I will definitely be reading more by Clare Pooley in the future!

This is the third book in the Marlow Murder Club series and while the mystery aspect was great there wasn’t as much about the three main characters. This instalment was much more plot focused than the first two. The setting, tone and writing were all great, and the mystery kept me guessing until the very end. I also listened to the audiobook, and as always the narration was fantastic. Judith had the most going on for her besides the mystery, but I felt like Susie was just there for investigation. This time the gang is involved in the murder investigation from the very start and they were able to run amok as they pleased, I kind of missed the pushback that they used to get from the police investigator. Almost every character introduced had a motive for the murder so it was a bit hard to narrow it down as a reader. I would still continue the series (and I’ve heard there’s a tv show out there too) as I’ve really enjoyed it as a whole. This addition was just as fun, I just wanted to see a little more out of the characters.

A human and a fae go on a book tour to compete for a publishing contract, whats the worst that could happen? This is a super cozy, rivals to lovers romance, both the main characters are likeable and the side characters are almost even better. This is the first book by Tessonja Odette that I’ve read, and I would be interested in reading in more of her work. The authors other books are set in the same world so it’ll be fun to go back and see the character I’ve already come to love. Even though I didn’t read the other books first I didn’t feel like I was missing out, it seems like you can read them in any order. There’s a really helpful glossary in the beginning but I didn’t need to refer to it. Overall this is a really cute and fun read.

Each book in this series is better than the last, and we get more and more information. This was my favourite book in the series (so far). There were a lot of things that I didn’t see coming, most which made me like the characters even more. We get a lot more background information into the world and the ending was crazy. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself waiting for the next book. Again this instalment is action packed, fast paced, addictive and an easy read. Once I got to about 70% in I couldn’t put it down. I was really happy to see Gabriel’s POV in this book as one of the many moving pieces in the story. I have a few ideas of what was going to happen but it wasn’t entirely predictable, and I feel like the next book will be the same. I can’t wait to see what happens next
