This book threw me for a loop big time! Two days later I'm still thinking about the ending. I wish I had read it for bookclub because man, this book needs some serious discussion!
The first third of the book sets you up one way and then out of nowhere the whole thing shifts. I immediately started reevaluating my thoughts on the narrator and the other characters and as the evening unfolding I kept having to adjust my assessments. I can't say more without giving away major spoilers but damn. Totally worth a read especially for fans of gone girl and girl on the train.

I wish I could give this wonderfully written story a 3.5. The story drew me in and held me captivated but the whole plot was so sad and depressing that I can't give it more stars. Call me an optimist but I like a somewhat happy ending. I'll read more from this author for sure, but I just can't totally recommend this book.
This story of a happily married couple is told in two parts, first from the husbands perspective and then from the wife's point of view. A true exercise in how two people experiencing the same things thought of themselves, of their friends and the events that shaped their life together. I also loved the overarching message of how much or little one can know about a spouse. It gave me pause through out and while parts were predictable, the story was written in such a way that it didn't bother me. 4.5 stars.
Not a fan. This book was just clunky and hard to get through. I got about 20% through and ending up just skim reading the rest of it.
I'm a big Jane Austen fan but Emma has never been my favorite of her stories. I could never connect with the main character, she was self centered, materialistic and flighty in Austen's works and bringing her into the modern world just amplified those flaws. The modern retelling also had me scratching my head over the George Knightley romance. I literally could not figure out why he liked her aside from being physically attracted to her.
After loving the modern treatment of Pride and Prejudice (Eligible) I was sorely disappointed in this one.
