This book did a number on me. I was told there was spice but as BookTok exaggerates spice, I wasn’t expecting much, especially when I found out the characters were 18 and still in high school. But man there was too much spice based on those two facts. The book was entertaining to read and corny as hell, but a nice distraction.

Absolutely loved this book (very light on the spice though). Though people complain about the use of “mate” I got over it. It was more annoying when “female” and “male” replaced “woman” and “man”. But I got over that too. 

I continue to love the way Feyre and Rhys handling their trauma. I will say it felt a bit rushed at the end. It felt like Maas was building up for the conflict between Hybern to be wrapped up in a following book, just for her to completely finish it up by the end of this book.

I basically cried when The Suriel died. Very upsetting as it was basically this creature that is supposed to be scary but in my mind reminds me of a sassy gossip that I loved seeing throughout the three books. But then cried again for Amren and Rhys when they died, even though I knew Rhys couldn’t really be dead. So I had like a tearful moment of relief when Amren came back.

I REALLY like this book. It wasn’t as good as The Cruel Prince, but it really added to my conflicting feelings towards Cardan and Jude. I’ve never connected to a main character who was also morally grey and I liked it. I love the political aspects of this book and the budding dark romance.

This was everything I wanted the Lords of Forsyth University to be and way better. The cliffhanger kind of has me interested in the next book.

Rowan and Aelin finally kiss and she meets with Aedion and a girlfriend, Lysandra. Lots of strong female characters. Not sure how I feel about Manson. Chaol is as annoying as ever.

Not down with the non-con but appreciate that it gets there. Basically so many people’s fantasy: Catholic school and bad boys. Won’t be reading any of the others in the series.
