This book has always been a favourite of mine. I just love how raw and honest it is. So relatable, even years after it's written.
I first read this book as a teenager. I found Francesca so easy to relate to as I struggled with my mental health. I gathered strength from her words and thoughts and felt I understood her and she would have understood me.
As I have grown, and reread this book, I am still in awe at how this book draws me in. Francesca is an old friend I visit from time to time, always learning something new, always relating.
Melina Marchetta writes with passion and poise. She develops characters who become your new best friends.
This is a book I will always recommend to people and one I can never put down.

I felt this lacked a lot of information. It left me with more questions on the topic than answers. If anything it constantly kept insisting the reader understands the importance of this book, without actually sharing anything important.
It's a difficult topic to approach, and I can appreciate that, but I felt that it was more suited to those who had already chosen YES for the vote. Undecided on those sitting on the NO side, really don't get information to help sway them.

From the very first word, I was hooked.
I will be honest, this was one of the free monthly books Audible offered over a year ago now. I downloaded it because 1. I liked the movie and 2. It was free. The book sat in my library for months and months until I finally decided to listen to it. WHY HADN'T I SOONER!?
I think I was worried that this overly science heavy Sci/Fi was going to confuse me, but instead it hooked me and reeled me in within seconds. I found myself listening at any moment I could, needing to know what was happening. When I wasn't listening to this book I was wondering what I would do if I was Mark. Would I have his courage and tenacity?
Any Weir was able to not only create a believable, futuristic scenario. But he did so in the manner that made me wanting more and more, even once the text was over. I think this is going to be the start of a beautifully relationship for me and Andy.
Wil Wheaton narrated the story in such a manner that it simply added to the text.

A historical romance based in the times of the Vikings and with one bad-ass female lead, how could we go wrong!?
I met Tanya Nellestein at a local market of mine and after purchasing a few of her books, I went onto Audible and downloaded The Valkyrie's Viking to listen to while driving. I will admit Viking based books have not been something I have ever been drawn to and now I ask myself "Why the hell not!?"
Brenna is the main character every woman should want to be. She isn't waiting around, like a damsel in distress. She is forward thinking, a born leader and one strong woman. Brenna has been dealt some hard cards in her life but didn't let that stop her from doing what she had to.
I loved the way Nellestein brought to life a world that is long lost. She kept the passion without making it repetitive or predictable. She created characters with heart and warmth and passion.

Such a beautifully written story that I felt I could relate to in so many ways. The message is so strong, you are beautiful for who you are, stay true to that!
This is the tale of young Ellie. She has forever struggled with her weight and feels that that is all people say. It has gotten to the point where she fails to see her own self worth. She feels no-one but her Dad is on her side, and sometimes he betrays her too.
Ellie begins to learn that she is loved, and by doing that she loves herself. She begins to stand up for herself, see her beauty and understand her potential.
Lisa Fipps uses free verse poetry to tell a story that is so relatable, heart breaking and full of hope all at once. There were so many times I wanted to wrap Ellie up in hugs and tell her she is okay, it will be okay. But what's more, I learnt a thing of two from Ellie as well. I learn about how I see myself and how to be kinder to myself.
This is a book I am going to be recommending to all ages. From my students and their parents and my friends and family. This is a book we all need to read.
All words have power, and we need to be more aware of that.
