speechless. this might be one of my favorite reads. southern gothic horror with an supernatural/psychological twist. i can only describe the relationship as toxic yaoi with anton chigurh. EUGENE IS A SICK LITTLE FREAK!! the ending was devastating. themes of religious trauma and childhood abuse. the reveal was tragic. everything i could want in a book

i loved this weird western. t4t with a cowboy and a witch. i love the characters and felt so comforted. grief and love. sobbing

slow at first but i loved the ending. alot of the themes really resonated with me. the prose wasn't for me but sometimes it really hit, both heartbroken, fond, and sickened

written by a prof emeritus at my uni. physics was fun, but a white male author writing a black woman physicist... it wasnt well researched enough in that respect and a bit out of touch due to this pervading color blind attitude. and some yikes comments about race and gender. but the nods to uci geography were fun i guess
