Zoey Draven is the perfect author when you want to read a romance novel that's not quite cozy but with enough emotion to make you cry.

The spicy scenes are spicy, there is a plot in the background so there is a connecting thread between the novels plus I love that all the books are from the same universe.

So fucking corny.

This trope of the super poor loner who is given everything and all she can think is "I need to escape before my mates can find me" is getting really stale.

I might be willing to stick it out if there are some other interesting aspects to the storyline instead of offering nothing else to an eventual fight.

But the real cringe is the FMC loves motorcycles and hot cars and it's so NLOG it drives me crazy

Ooh this series hits all the right spots.

☑️ Monstrous Academy
☑️ Fated feral mates
☑️ Dark themes that are not for those who read trigger warnings
☑️ Rough sex scenes
☑️ Adorable fluffy companion animals
☑️ A support rooster named Eugene
☑️ Friend groups instead of mean girls

Can't wait to dive into book 2

There are some editing errors including a confusing mix up of character names that should have been caught by editors.  However I am fully aware that sometimes these things get through self pub and indie books and I'm ok with that.  I also understand that is not a sign of bad writing. When writing a novel there is a lot of cut and paste and changes to make characters work and sometimes insertions go wrong.  I'm smart enough to understand what the author was trying to do and honestly it has nothing to do with the story.

Just a teaser story to set up the first novel of the series.  Interesting take on the world and shifters and fated mates.  All my favourite tropes so we will see how the story progresses.

Its recommended to read this short story first and I ignored that only to discover that book 1 makes very explicit references to this story so I put that book aside to read this and it does help.

The mates are not very likeable right now but that means little in these books

I love murderbot!  I love how they emotionally grow in each story.

This was the first time I listened instead of reading the story and reading is superior.  Also I feel murderbot is non gendered so having a male narrator disrupts that idea, although the narrator does a good job.

I am looking forward to the next installment!

Zoey Draven writes great romance novels.
Nothing too complicated but the writing is good, the FMC are always smart and capable the MMCs are lovable.

I'm always shedding a tear at how sweet the couples are.  Which is what you want in a HEA romance.

There are a small handful of writers that have never been a disappointment and I know I can always pick up a book by Zoey Draven and fall in love for a few hours
