I don't know if it was the subject of the book or just my own mental state but I teared up a few times.  

I really enjoy this series of books.  

I'm not a big fan of cozy fantasy so as far as the genre goes this was a cute story.  I think the narration when it came to the MMC fell kind of flat and didn't quite get the level of sarcasm that may have come across in the written portrayal.  

I might return and give this book a 5.  I would have liked more of Jorg and this world but as the author acknowledges it would drag on and the mysteries answered would never be as strong as the mysteries left half answered. 

I want more of Jorg the character because he was so fascinating and morally ambiguous and funny as well.  

I am too comfortable in my romance books that I have forgotten that not all things need happy endings even if they kind of work out for the best.  

More great writing.  This is my first series by this author and I am booked!  

Dark, epic and funny with many literary Easter eggs.  

A short book so a quick read.  Dark and funny at times, if you like gallows humour.  

Reminds me of The Black Company and the Bridge burners but with far more ugly characters.  

Prince Jorg is the dark ambiguously moral protagonist I've been hoping for in these so called dark romances.   

There is murder and basically annihilation of men, women children horses and innocents alike. There is rape and looting (although rape is alluded to not described).  This is the kind of book that if you need to read the trigger warnings you probably shouldnt open this book.  For those who feel real life can be brutal and inhumane already then it won't matter what fictional characters do in a fictionalized world 

The story doesn't bog down in explanations and the world is built as we follow the anti-hero.  This is how to show without telling.   By the end of the book it is much more clear what sort of world the events take place in .
