A brief introduction to diversity in the American West, although I don't think this is meant to be a comprehensive look at all non-white men, it's more of a brief realistic/balanced look at who important figures were during the time period. You can see from below that there are no Native women included, only 6.5 women were included (one shared her section with her husband)

The 25 sections breakdown is as follows:
-2 feature white men
-4 feature white women
-7 feature Black men (including one about a group of soldiers)
-2 feature Black women
-1 features a multiracial man
-1 features a Native American man
-2 feature Mexican people
-1 features two Spanish explorers who explored peacefully, a rarity enough to include them for this alone, apparently
-2 feature Jewish people
-1 features Chinese railroad workers

There are also sections on wagon trains and clothing, which seem really out of place, both in their inclusion and placement in the book.
