  • sweet, tender & funny
  • quirky characters that grew on me as they grew themselves
  • as an adoptive (former foster) parent, this book is a hug from Cara Bastone 🤗

  • slow start then gained a bit of momentum, but not really gripping
  • liked seeing the differences in how the families thought and acted across the story
  • plot-driven with unlikeable characters

• strongly feel the words "romantic comedy" should be removed from the description
    • enjoyed this as the "women's fiction" it is
• loved seeing the story traverse a decade of ups and downs, and how they made or broke the relationships (both romantic and platonic)
• not a fan of some plot points

• enjoyed the characters and the small town sense of family
• the mystery and suspense kept me intrigued
• mixed feelings about the romance
    • was it me, or did the steam just seem awkward/lack good segue?!

  • hilarious, endearing, and unexpectedly insightful
  • heavy at times but hopeful
  • fantastic coming-of-age story -- I genuinely enjoyed seeing how Margo faced her problems and grew into herself
