This book is the Second in the series, I have not read the first one and while this can be read as a stand-alone it does refer to the first book. The plot is interesting and pulls you in but the story was too slow and in order to find out what happens you need to read the third book. For a book with 71 Chapter and 13 The Last Day’s taking it to a total of 84 chapters it is disappointing that it ends with the wrong person being arrested and the police yet to correct it<spoiler/>
Ultimately it is not a book I would go out of my way to listen to again. It was too slow and the narrator didn’t really match the feel of the book.

This was an ARC that I read through BookSirens. The story holds a lot of merit and does have an interesting plot. Our main character has a history in vine and that just so happened to be the main theme of the murders. However the main character comes across almost Gary Stu like as the only one who can piece the case together and get the bad guy. In other words it is pretty much like any run of the mill police story. I hope that should I continue to read this author, there will be more character development that explores the characters flaws other than just his boss not liking him.

Whilst this book starts out a little bit slow, the second half of it is amazing and for the last 30% I never wanted to put the book down. The characters are ones that you grow to love and then question their actions until you remember that some of them are formed through grief.
