On the one hand, I couldn’t put it down and the twist kind of broke me and had me sobbing. On the other hand, the more I think about it, the more I’m annoyed by the rich white girl story and the twist. So... 🤷♀️
The topic of this book is hugely important, especially right now, and it’s powerful and worth reading. Unfortunately, character depth leaves something to be desired and the ending wraps up too tidily considering the subject.
It was fluffy and fun and hot and I couldn’t put it down!
Beautiful and haunting and broke my heart a million times and stitched it back together. I couldn’t stop reading even though I wanted it to last forever. Guessed what was going to happen, and I’m not mad about it.
Here’s the thing: objectively, it’s not a great book. The characters aren’t really developed, and there wasn’t really much world building, either. But even at that, weird magic world with uncompelling characters managed to suck me in.
It was better than the first one, but I wouldn’t call it *good.* A little more character depth and world building, though.
