These are ridiculous and not good lit, but they’re fluffy and fun. I think this is my fave in the series so far, hence the slightly higher rating.
This book was everything I wanted it to be: a freaking delight. It’s a glorious trip back in time to the 90s mall, complete a silly mystery, and a story about friendship and understanding yourself.
Yep, it’s not perfect, and I really wish there was some closure or explanation around the time loop. Still, I couldn’t stop grinning the whole time I was reading, and I loved the setting and the chosen family vibe.
I picked up this book to read while I'm gearing up to live as an expat for the next year (or more?). I was happy to find a strong collection of women's tales of expat life; sometimes those seem to be harder to find, though I think that's changing. I enjoyed nearly all of the stories in this book; they weren't all the best travel writing I've ever read, but they were genuine and exactly what I was looking for. I also really appreciated that each essay was set in a different location.
So I hate the virgin trope, but I like hockey romances and reverse harem romances, so I figured I'd give it a shot. And just...NO.
1. Alpha doesn't mean stalkers who don't respect boundaries.
2. I don't buy that this super awkward 19-year-old who is uncomfortable talking about sex would be okay with losing her virginity in a foursome.
3. Degradation during sex is a kink and requires consent, and given that they barely know each other when she loses her virginity to them, the ick factor is HIGH.
Also, the writing wasn't super great, and I'm willing to overlook that for good characters or hot sex scenes, and this had neither.
