I started out really enjoying the writing and curious about the story, but the further I got into it, the more I was struggling to follow the threads. I wasn’t excited to pick it back up to finish.

Not excited about the art, not excited about the story.

I expected this to be a sweet and fluffy queer YA romance, and it’s clear eight chapters in that Ridley’s dad is an emotionally abusive alcoholic, and that Ridley’s anxiety disorder is really severe. I’d be okay with those plot points if I hadn’t been planning on fluff, so maybe I’ll pick this up again another time.

I skimmed the second half, just wasn’t feeling it.

After starting the book, I learned that it included biphobia/bi erasure, as well as that the author has made some biphobic comments on Twitter. I’d rather read more queer lit that celebrates all queer identities!
