Reread 2024: After rereading it, I need to put my rating up to a five-star. After going reading the whole series and now rereading the first book, I see how perfectly this book set the series up and even though it is slow at time, I think it is a fantastic set-up book for the series and everything that is to come.

I liked the world of the 6 Duchies and how we get to see Fitz's journey right from the beginning. But overall I did not love it. I cannot really pinpoint what did not catch me but I will definitely read the next installments of this series.

I am very glad to have finally read this classic novel. I really enjoyed the story and for someone that very limited knowledge about these times in the US, it did a fantastic job of portraying them. I liked to read about a character that is meant to be unlikeable, that does not confine to social norms. At the same time, I took a liking to Scarlet as she is a really strong female character in a time where women were usually meant to stay at home and take care of the children.

This book took me completely by surprise. I went into it completely blind and expected something totally different but what I got out of it was so much better. I liked how the novel dealt with sensitive topics and how sometimes things are not what you believe them to be.

I really liked the illustrations as well as the meaning behind the book.

I really liked the illustration and the intention of the book.

Reread 2022:
I still think the book has a great intent behind and I quite enjoyed my reread.

I really loved this novel. It was interesting to get a glimpse into the life of Mexican American Teenagers in the 1980s and how they learned to deal with their queerness and life in general.

I liked to be back in the world of Alice. I read the first 14 installments when I was a teenager before their publication was discontinued in Germany. So I decided to pick up the rest of the novels so that I can finish out the series and also because I am really interested in seeing how Alice's life goes on. I like the installment and it was very easy to get back into the city. I liked seeing how Alice matured and I am looking forward to what is coming next.

I liked to finally see the weeding in this book but also that one event does not make a family and how hard it can be adjusting to something that one has wished for.

I really liked this novel but I cannot say that it was an enjoyable read. It really highlighted the terrors of Auschwitz and the life there.

I liked the views into raising children and the comics about it.
