Mmh this did not live up to the hype for me…

I loved this so much! It reads like a modern character study. I especially loved that the book is written completely in Spanglish, though I don’t know how much I would have missed if I didn’t speak Spanish.

The good:
- informative and has sparked many new ideas for me
- an important book about a topic rarely discussed in mainstream media

The bad:
- fully US centered 
- sometimes feels unstructured 
- I personally didn’t like that it is a mix of memoir and informative nonfiction

I thought this would be a five star read for me but I think I might not be in just the right headspace for this book right now. It is a great important book offering a diverse  perspective into German culture that is often forgotten about in mainstream media.

Apparently 4 CoHo books is what it took for me to finally realise I don’t like her writing 🤷‍♀️

An important read, if at times a little repetitive. Deals almost exclusively with US American issues.

Rom-coms are rarely this highly rated for me, but I loved this to bits. Perhaps being a woman in STEM and having lived a little of the academia life the book is based around made it more relatable to me, but I just thoroughly enjoyed the relationships described in these pages.

I really enjoyed this, however found it ever so slightly overloaded which is why it is a 4 star read for me

The lack of direction and editing in this book subsequently bored me to tears and annoyed me beyond belief.

I really should have DNFed this, I slogged through it because it is so short.

I have no idea at the end of reading this, what the author was trying to accomplish and what she was trying to get across to the reader…
