”Because I am not going to blackmail you, you bloody interfering toff. For a lot of reasons, not least of which is that it’s a nasty fucking thing to do, but also, you daft bastard, because if I blackmailed you for happening to prefer men, tou could blackmail me right back. Did you somehow not notice that I nearly fucked you against a building on Piccadilly the other night?”

witty, fun and satisfying, this have me everything i like about historical romances and nearly everything i wanted from a mn lgbt+ version of it. good enough to consider reading more from the author.

also, although the cover is embarrassing, this is kinda like a harlequin novel but with men and the spice cranked up, lol. the sort of book you used to be able to buy a newsstands around my parts and i so over being embarrassed about things that are fun to read.

here’s to more entertainment!

the biggest mary sue to ever mary sue and the most cardboard gangster to ever be written, i’m afraid.

5 unserious stars

"Cowboys, aliens, hit men, and nos a canyon full of survivalists. Young stared down into the chasm and the flurry of movement their approach was causing and shook his head in disbelief. How was this his life? It was over the top, completely unreal. Butler had been right, this could’ve been a bad action movie."

This was SO MUCH FUN!!!! it was so yummy and unserious and genuinely funny and actually well thought and pretty decently executed for an idea so over the top that it should Not have worked. were there things that could’ve been more developed or better executed? yes. do i care? NO!!!!

i wish i had ten more of these to read and relish, a whole adventure with aliens and cowboys and retired hitmen, because this was just too scrumptious to get over that easily.

"The big maple had yellow tips on the ends of some of its leaves. They hadn’t been there when I’d checked that morning. The tree was changing at last. I’d known it would, eventually. Everything will change, if you wait long enough."

5 perfect stars

oh, this was genuinely so, so good! these boys are absolute gems, they're fun and complex and lovely and sweet and ugh, i love boys in love!

this was great insight into autism and also portrayed depression and anxiety to such a deep and resonating degree. this is the good shit.

"(...) and the unexpected tenderness from him—always so stern, so in control—had french braided her lungs together, leaving her heart to thump pitifully from within the tangle."

this was indeed better than the anticipated, a pretty fun read, but the start still had way too much info-dump and dragged on for a while there, i was disappointed and thinking i was going to hate it, but it pulled through in the end and i enjoyed it. it still gets 3 starts because i disliked the beginning, but it got saved from a DNF tag around the 40% mark.

i know a lot of people were like this was batter than i thought it would be! but this was pretty much what i expected, lol. which isn't bad, truly. but i don't think i'll be checking out the extended other installments in this series, sorryyyy.

though, i will say, this was still original and gets soo many points for how steamy it was, the smut was pretty fun and steamy. kudos!

“Fuck, I love it when you’re happy.”
Which was the nicest thing anyone had ever said to me.

rounded up to 4 stars because it was a satisfying read.

wasn't expecting this to be quite so sweet, but we are here for it. i kinda wished the marshall cases were fewer so they could've been more explored, there were also pieces of dialogue or infodump paragraphs that made me very confused/lost. i will say that i easily loose track of happenings due to cognitive issues, so there's that.

also, i was on a mini reading slump and was looking for a book that would make me, likfe, Feel Something, and this pulled it off, so that's why it still got five stars despite a few issues.

my fave genre of manly men who are soft for eachother continues to thrive and this was a solid representative of that!

Miro: You love me.
Ian: I used to, back at the beginning of this conversation.

this was so very sweet for a book that has unspeakable things done to one of the main characters
