The other day I described some aspects of [a:Freydís Moon|21814079|Freydís Moon|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1631796779p2/21814079.jpg]'s writing to some friends and we were all giggling and yelling as if we were 12yos again through my words so like, if that doesn't tell you something already about what they bring to the table, IDK what to tell you, lol.

No, joke, ofc I know what to tell you. Truth is, I can't get enough of their writing and it was incredible to read something lenghtier from them!

With a Vengeance is not as wild as [b:Exodus 20:3|196943539|Exodus 20 3|Freydís Moon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1694798117l/196943539._SY75_.jpg|93030785] — which, btw, is a bible chapter that reads “You shall have no other gods before me.” And that's just too perfect to not start my proper review on, since With A Vengeance also touches upon worship.

Both books have trans leads, except that this time Kye goes by they/them pronouns, and even though I've read trans leads before, it was my first time reading someone they/them, and that was sososo awesome.

Anyways, back to the writing itself. This one starts with a honest to god punch, the first 5% of the book it was a faceful of beautiful, evocative writing and I had to reread some sentences multiple times, and not because they were hard to understand, but because they deserved to be savoured they were so perfect.

The duality was also insane, the way Eli could be so soft at times had me reeling in the best way

“Don’t call me a woman.”

“I didn’t,” Eli said, deadly serious. His smile dropped and his jaw clenched, fiery gaze pinned to them.

Eli really said "I might be a demon and perform unexpected acts of s&m, but i draw the line at transphobia!!".

The TENDERNESS was killing me it had my squealing, istg. I seriously enjoyed the development of their relationship, which wasn't perfect and did feel some bits were rushed but hey, how am I to know how anyone would behave after having a literal demon inside their head for months, thinking they were crazy all the while, only to find out afterwards that they actually weren't. Though, props to Fryedís for having Kye still taking their meds afterwards!

I've gone in cyrcles in this review, so I just wanna say that the ending truly surprised me, as to also be honest, I hoped it went a different route, but this one was veery satisfying and I remain completely enraptured by everything Freydís Moon writes and will recommend their books to everyone and anyone.

the cliffhanger!!!!!!! i am ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Kazia doesn't make plans. He makes problems."

Oh, how I waited for this book! From the moment I finished [b:Prince and Bodyguard|171831933|Prince and Bodyguard (Perilous Courts #4)|Tavia Lark|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1685730237l/171831933._SY75_.jpg|100918173], I just knew right away that the final instalment from Perilous Courts was going to be my favorite. Not only enemies to lovers and slow burn are a couple of my fave tropes (when well done), the title alone had me excited.

Prince of Agony already implied that this was going to be Kazia's story first and foremost, and that was what also had me so excited and I was right. There are so many quotes I could've started this review on, but I chose the first one I highlighted on the book and, I mean, Kazia IS a chaos gramlin that is such a good brand of male lead tbh.

Is this the best book in the series? Maybe not really? I've read the others a while back by now so I can't be sure, but this gave me the vibes and answeres I wanted, Lucien is literal sunshine and I love Kazia, who thinks he's so evil incarnate, but isn't really.

I'm going to seriously miss this series, I love when authors write diff characters and stories set in the same universe and it's even better when they continue the same story line.

The one thing... like, the age difference, right? Lucien is my age (29) and, if I understood correctly, Kazia is 18. I can't for the life of me imagine being attracted to someone that age. So suspencion of disbelief had to be a thing *shrugs*. Still a five stars read because I had FUN!!!

what does it say about me, that i was expecting something darker and/or more painful from this book or, perhaps, what does it say about A Strange and Stubborn Endurance, that despite of some of its subjects and happenings, i found it light, and sweet, and amusing?

uh.

i can't hope to find the answer to that.

yummy
