This book was so much fun! Lady Penelope is a rescue home for pets, although in her mind, the pets rescue her. So when her bird goes flying into her neighbor's bedroom, and she gets a good look at a fine specimen of a man, she discovers she might be more interested in people than she thinks. She goes from curious to interested and suddenly the beast of a man becomes a stray, another pet project -- and oh, so much more.
This kiss could not be mistaken for an accidental collision of the mouths. Oh, no. He kissed with purpose. His lips had ideas. His tongue had plans.
Tessa Dare has graduated from hiding her heroes' wounds until the last minute to putting them on full display, and the results are breathtaking. Perfectly flawed men that you both hate and root for. Gabriel Duke is such a character and Penny is just the woman to rescue him. She's a combination of flaky and intelligent, and her journey toward discovering herself and stepping out of the shadows is a marvel to behold. She's her own woman and the only way she can remain so is to find herself a suitor (we are in Regency England, after all). Lucky for her, she has a new neighbor to help her along her journey.
A resounding five stars.
**Addendum to add the audiobook version**
Mary Jane Wells has converted me from a "I can't listen to an audiobook" to "I will seek this narrator out!" She takes an outstanding book and brings it to life. Absolutely superb.

well plotted
A Highlander thrust into unwanted leadership. Buried family secrets. A half-English heroine, which by itself pits him against her.
I do enjoy this couple’s books. Well plotted if a bit predictable (hence 4 stars instead of 5). Have another in this series that I intend to read.

The latest in the Rangers to Ranchers Triple-D Ranch romances ramps up the suspense as two people work together to look for potential cattle rustlers, while avoiding a potentially homicidal boss. This one is my favorite.
After Kiera hits a cow on her way to her vacation and totals her car, she takes lodging at the ranch until she can iron out the logistics with her car. She barters her bookkeeping skills in exchange for room and board and while exploring her alternate career path taking photos, she gets close to cowboy Frank. She and Frank work together to look into what happened to the missing cattle, and the alleged wrongdoing by the boss she’s trying to escape. Is there room in her plans for a new life for an alpha-male cowboy?

Love the Dreamwalker series
I started this series later in, and somehow never read this one. Baxley is solid and conflicted and totally relatable, her clues handed to her bit by bit. A great mystery and a great psychic detective. Highly recommended.

I do love reading her books.
Some of the other reviews comment on the series as a whole, and I would agree. There isn’t anything tying this series together. No overlapping characters. With that being said…
I like the way Jill writes 3D characters. The main character was severely injured, and you feel that throughout the book. There is no “oh yeah, she was in an accident” moment. She lives it every day. This one is closer to the romances I love to read from Jill, which makes me happy. That’s her sweet spot. The way she adds senior citizens to the mix is always entertaining, although if there was one downside, I don’t see a doggie daycare turning into a senior daycare without qualified caregivers. Liability issues, you know. Maybe the one place that took me out of the story.
Overall, I couldn’t put it down and enjoyed it all the way through.

After reading some of the reviews, I was skeptical after a friend recommended this book. I LOVED it. Was worried about violence, but even that was tastefully done (as much as it can be).
I read the blurb and I was sucked in. A gargoyle that comes to life to protect a woman?
I don’t think I paid attention to the fact this was a novella, which means the pace accelerated quickly. Very steamy! The progressions all worked for me, and I like the premise. A goth nightclub that hides more than your average patron.
Things that made me raise my eyebrows: a gargoyle who looks like Fabio with a French accent. Okay, I can roll with it. Toward the end when she assumes he didn’t return to stone. Seems as if her impending danger might have recalled him, but again, I can roll with it. I enjoyed the story. It was a quick read and the pacing moved well.
One place that took me out of the story - the epilogue. Danton talks about how he uses his wings to travel. So when they go from Boston to Paris, that was my assumption until he asks if she wants to fly and she’s suddenly afraid. Then he asks if she’s ever flown in a plane. How did they get there if those two options weren’t accessed?
Overall, a fun read, and I still love the way she morphed the gargoyle.

they don’t write gothic romance like this anymore
I’ve always loved gothic romances, and found this one translated to ebook. Set on the ski slopes and a ski lodge, and the mysterious family who lives nearby, Linda sets out to clear her half brother from a murder charge. I never guess the killer! And there are very few books I can say that about.

So many thoughts. I’ll start with I liked the concept, the extreme emotions. I liked the tight knit family. Some undeveloped talents and unanswered questions there.
The “reader beware” moments. Lots of trigger warnings to sensitive readers.
The downside - ghosts can’t hurt you, except when they can. We’ve seen that the main ghost can manipulate a living person to do his evil, which flies a whole lot better than the ghosts manifesting physical harm on their own. Despite this inconsistency, I felt the book was well done.
At the end if the day, I would recommend this.
