Long on exposition

Aside from several colorful phrases the author apparently found too much fun not to use, this book is almost entirely exposition and not much story. Disappointing.

fun romp

I enjoyed it overall, but I had some some serious hesitations. I’m a fan of Ms. Blythe, however, When Margaret’s mother abused her and Margaret’s father asked her what was wrong, she remained silent. There were other ways to achieve the same result with the support of her father, no matter how self-effacing Margaret is. And Juliet. Where is Juliet? Even when she’s there, she disappears.

Great characters

Fun read. Language was a little more than it needed to be, and I don’t normally care much about that, but the characters were well drawn and easy to pull for.
