slow-paced

Adding the .5 solely for the epilogue.

I felt there were SO many unnecessary plot points and the pacing was awful. What a shame because I loved book 1.

This really could’ve been a fantastic duology instead of a disappointing trilogy.

”keep reaching out your hand”

SJM really put her all into this one with feminine rage, healing, self love and the power of friendship at its core.

I cried so hard & really loved watching Nesta grow into herself while following her journey to healing.

What an absolute beauty this book was, is, and will continue to be. ❤️

“A man doesn't have to be unkind or unlikable to have enemies. Sometimes, it's good people who are hated for who they are.”

The Jade Setter of Janloon is truly a treasure & a treat while serving just a glimpse of life into this world before the Green Bone Saga takes off in Jade City.

I don't know how else to explain that reading this after the trilogy made my heart soar while also shattering it simultaneously. I am in tears!

I just really love this series and will happily accept any crumbs Fonda wants to give that take place in Janloon.

“Why do you sacrifice me to feed the things that haunt you?

This was an emotional, powerfully visceral, & raw collection of poems. It really opens your eyes to Megan’s experiences.

My heart hurts for her, & then broke completely after the last two poems 😭😭

My first Darcy Coates experience has been quite successful! If not for a book club, I wouldn’t have picked this up but I’m sure glad I did.

This was a super engaging horror thriller in the vein of Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None.

I very much enjoyed this read and look forward to picking up more from this author in the future!

This was interesting, strange and will appeal to a very niche audience. I don’t even know what else to say lol

I’m happy to report that picking this up for the third time was in fact— the charm.

The hesitation I had picking up Kingdom of Ash was very much valid. I am full of so much emotion.. at what transpired in this book, at the series being over, at the emptiness I feel knowing I now have to part ways with a series I started back in 2016. Of course I can reread these books, but the feeling of that first read is incomparable.

I will without a doubt be revisiting this world & its characters in the future. So for now, I'll say see you again soon.

As a certain character says on page 977—

”I’m going to have a terrible headache from all this crying.”
