slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ Really good worldbuilding
+ Excellent exploration of court politics in a fantasy setting

Cons
- Very slow read
- Things happen to the main character rather than because of him. Thus there is no main conflict or driving thrust to the story other than waiting for the next big event.
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: No
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ Unreliable narrator done well
+ Self-justifications and inner monologue of the main character, Joe, felt very realistic and thus very creepy

Cons
- Side characters are all one-dimensional and serve only as plot devices
- Joe's inner monologue tries too hard to be edgy
fast-paced

Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ A good sequel that doesn't rely too hard on the first book
+ Very loveable characters

Cons
- Loose ends from the first book are completely dropped
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ Entertaining read

Cons
+ Main character is so overpowered, which makes it so uninteresting because they have no rival/equal.
+ Way too long considering how little happens, had to skim large portions that seemed there to fill space.
+ Repetitive plot. Someone is always getting life-threateningly injured but nothing bad ever actually happens.
+ Very 'insta-love' between the main character and his love interest. I still don't understand why they 'love' each other after a week of meeting for the first time.
+ Kiss or die trope that is poorly thought out in terms of worldbuilding.

Pros
+ Great use of time skips

Cons
-
NFTs?? Really? This aged poorly.

- Very poorly explained and executed usage of the Internet of Things. Amounts to essentially tech magic/superpowers.
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: No
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ Fast-paced and suspenseful
+ Good plot twist
+ Effective use of multiple POVs

Cons
- The husband, Derek, acted mostly as a plot device. His actions, or the reveal of his previous actions, are timed to keep the plot moving forward but it muddles his motivations as a character.
medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Yes
Diverse cast of characters: Yes
Flaws of characters a main focus: Yes

Pros
+ I love legal thrillers where the main character is a defense attorney rather than a prosecutor.
+ Excellent use of multiple POVs

Cons
- Repeated comments from the main character and others that the media is too harsh on the Catholic Church and priests. Felt like the author had an axe to grind and was roping the reader into it.
- The case against Father Thomas Martin never really seems solid so his exoneration felt too easy.
fast-paced

Pros
+ THAT PLOT TWIST! I've read a lot of Freida McFadden so I can usually guess the plot twist but this took me by surprise and completely changed the way you view the first 3/4 of the story.

Cons
- Who is Joel? Why are all these women obsessed with him? It's never explained and he seems like a completely average man.
fast-paced

Pros
+ Some good side characters such as Spider Dan (which is usually McFadden's weakness, in my opinion)

Cons
- Not great mental health representation especially considering McFadden is a practicing physician.
- The (eventual) love interest is just... why?
- Most plot twists were predictable
