I like the story and the characters are good! I love the puzzles and adventure and secret codes! The writing is fair, but rather forced at times. The author often "Tells" instead of "Showing" in his writing, but I have to wonder if that is not partially to blame on the translation (originally written in Italian?). Not brilliant, but an enjoyable and fun read. Great for kids! I'm going to buy the rest of the series, b/c I just can't resist a story with secret codes. :)
Here's my favorite quote:
"Cease to lament what thou canst not help,
And study help for that which thou lament'st.
Time is the nurse and breeder of all good."
-TGofV
Well, it's a good play, and funny in parts. I dislike the banter between the servantmen; Serves no purpose in furthering the story. There are some very pretty lines and good scenes. Valentine and Silvia are excellent, admirable characters. All in all, though, not my favorite play.

I hate Proteus! What a jerk! And I do NOT like how he's just forgiven by everybody in the end. If I were Julia, I'd shove that ring down his throat and hope he chokes on it.
I'm unsure why Valentine lies to the Outlaws telling him that he is banished for killing a man. Is he trying to seem tough so they won't hurt him?
And yet AGAIN, we have a woman dressing up like a man and becoming the page/servant to the man she loves. Get some new material, William.

Well written, but with some disturbing content. Not really interesting.
