I loved the simple illustrations in this book. The colors are bright and attractive, and the fuzzy style is really cute!

The flaps on each page are cleverly designed, so that on one side the drawing looks like the fruit, and when you open it, half of the drawing reveals the animal that ate the fruit. It's brilliant!

Toucan invites his friends over for a sleepover, but then begins to worry that his decorations and snacks aren't special enough. He flies through the jungle looking for more fluffy bedding, more colorful decorations, and sweeter snacks. But as Toucan is bringing all the "better" things back to his tree, he is overloaded with too much weight and disaster strikes! When Toucan's friends see his ordinary decorations and plain snacks, they don't mind. The only thing that makes a sleepover truly special is having it with their friend Toucan!

This is such a cute book! I have to admit that I am like Toucan, always trying to make things "special" and perfect and the best. I love the positive messages in this book about slowing down, not doing so much extra stuff, and just enjoying time with friends. It's important to remember what really matters in life, whether you are a perfectionist human or a cute Toucan. haha!

Waldo and his friends are surrounded by hundreds of Santas in costume. There are a lot of festive activities going on as the Santas prepare for the big sleigh ride. And somewhere in the chaos of reindeer, presents, and Christmas trees, Waldo is hiding among all the red and white. However, each scene is covered by a dark screen, and you have to use the spotlight search tool, a handy cardboard wand, to "light up" the scenes.

This is such a cool search activity book! In every scene you have to find Waldo, his dog, Wenda, the wizard Whitebeard, and the Waldo's crazy opposite, Odlaw. There are also additional lists of things to look for in every wintery scene like Santas decorating the trees, reindeer being fed, and bakers creating delicious Christmas treats.

I used to love these Waldo books when I was a little girl, and the addition of the spotlight search tool makes it even more special. I also appreciate that there is a sleeve inside the cover for the spotlight search tool where it can (hopefully) be safe from getting lost.

This book would be the perfect Christmas gift to keep the kids busy during the holidays with some fun!

A fir tree hears from the robin about the wide world of men, and wishes that he could go on an adventure, but his roots keep in him in the forest. One day men with axes come to take the fir tree into town, and the fir tree is decorated for Christmas. After the Christmas festivities are over, the little robin looks for his friend and finally finds him cast aside for firewood. However the fir tree is content to have had his great adventure at last. The robin plants a pine cone from his friend, and a new little fir tree grows up in the forest.

This is such a bittersweet story! I loved the way this old fairy tale is retold. The writing style for this retelling is very atmospheric and dreamy. I'm never sure what the underlying message is behind this sad story. Maybe that all that glitters is not gold? Or to be content with what you have and not wish for adventures? Either way, I love this old fairy tale. It's sad but sweet.

The illustrations are really imaginative and interesting. The art style is attractive and dreamy. Each animal and tree has curlicues and delicate designs all over. Every page is full of color and life!

This cookbook has recipes for meals made in the traditional Mexican style. There are recipes for Salsas, Breakfast, Appetizers, Salads, Soups, Main Dishes, Drinks, and Desserts. And of course, there is an entire section for Holiday recipes that are deliciously Mexican.

These recipes take me back to my childhood in Mexico! Just reading the book makes my mouth water. Every recipe has a large colorful photograph that shows you the delectable result. I'm so impressed with how attractive this book is!

The instructions are clear, and most of the ingredients are easy to find at any grocery store. There are a few ingredients like epazote, dried hibiscus flowers, and tamarind that you might have to buy at a Hispanic market. But there are dozens of recipes to try that don't require any fancy ingredients.

There are also a few tools that might not be in a regular American kitchen, like a tortilla press, but you could probably make do without it if you had to.

The recipes I really want to try are the pozole soup, salmon tacos, carrot enchiladas, and the black bean tetelas.
I am especially impressed that there is a recipe for making your own corn tortillas in the REAL traditional style. All these recipes look so amazing!
