I enjoyed this book even more reading it the second time! I love dynamic between Edred and Elfrida, fighting and making up just the way siblings do, teasing and snapping at each other, but really caring about one another underneath.
I love the crusty old Moldiwarp and how crabby he is all the time! haha! What a wonderfully imaginative character!
Just a perfect magical tale, with loads of mystery and daring adventure!

A nice collection of short stories! Good ones!

I cried and laughed, and clutched this book to my heart! Greeting each character like an old friend, I enjoyed this book immensely, as I have loved the entire series. The writing is superb, and the world of Mistmantle is enchanting!

Usually I am pretty skeptical of sequels not written by the original author, but from the very first sentence I completely forgot that it wasn't Kenneth Grahame himself writing this book! This is a PERFECT imitation of Grahame's writing! It just wraps you up all cozy like a warm familiar blanket, and sweeps you away to the magical world of the Willows.

The illustrations are delightful. Every character is perfectly as they should be. They pop right back to life! Each story line is interesting, funny, whimsical, and perfectly woven together. I can't even describe... my whole being just trembled with happiness while I was reading this book. It's like greeting dear old friends after a long absence, and finding that they are just the same, and our camaraderie is not lessened by the years. I want to read it again and again!

Wow, I really loved this book!! The content and philosophy of good and evil reminds me of Narnia. The characters and their development remind me of Wrinkle in Time. The pacing of the story reminds me of Harry Potter. Just fantastic writing all around!
I especially enjoyed Fred's character, a white hole/star who has conveniently left his mass elsewhere in the universe, but can still throw out a jet plane or sports car when necessary. What an interesting character!!
I'm excited to read the rest of this series! Great one for kids!

It is amazing how each book in the Percy Jackson series just keeps getting better and better!  This one completely blew me away, I love it so much! I read it in exactly 24 hours, and could not stop reading for one minute.
The writing, the characters, the plot twists, the settings- all wonderful!  I cant' wait to get my hands on the next books!

Update 2025 Reread: I really love how strong Annabeth is in this story. She has to face her worst fears all alone, but she gathers her courage even in the midst of horrible circumstances. I find her storyline to be so inspiring. Through most of the series we see all these characters encouraging each other and working together through tough times, but Annabeth had to do it all alone. She has this well of strength inside her that she didn't even know she possessed. Such a beautiful character!

Percy and Jason are both feeling the pressures of leadership, feeling like they have to protect everyone, and everyone is looking to them for all the answers. They both feel really inadequate, but when they learn to work together, they discover that they make a great team. Leadership can be very isolating, but once they shoulder that burden together it becomes lighter. Their character development in this book is phenomenal.

Leo just breaks my heart every time. His inner struggle hits me even harder this second time reading the series because I know the dark times that are coming up for him in the next books. I cried and cried through his scenes because he is such a darling character, and he is so strong and lonely, and he covers up his inner pain with jokes and laughter. Such a brilliant complex character!

This book ends on a literal cliffhanger, so make sure you have the next book in the series ready to go!

Percy has no memory of his former life, and he has joined a camp of Roman demi-gods. Now he's being sent on a quest to Alaska with his new friends Frank and Hazel. The god of death has been kidnapped, and the monsters they fight won't die. The only way to defeat their enemies is if death starts working normally again.

There seems to be a little more character development in this book than in some of the other books of the series. I love it!  The characters are wonderful, the writing is snappy, the plot is full of surprises.  I loved every minute of it!

I especially love seeing Percy new friendship dynamic with Frank and Hazel. They quickly develop a bond and they are such a great team!
