I don’t know what it was with this book, because it wasn’t bad neither did it annoy me with plot decisions, but I couldn’t for the love of me focus on anything. I’d read and skip paragraphs and whole scenes because it just didn’t grab my attention. I read it in a day, and the story is cute, the book delivers what it proposes, but overall it was a deeply confusing experience.

One of the best Riordans ever. As a carioca Brazilian fan, I didn’t like the representation all that much, but appreciated the sentiment either way.

As the other book I've read by Colleen Hoover (Ugly Love), the writing is so good and so enveloping you can feel everything and see everything from the MC's point of view. The plot, though, is ruthless. A friend had warned me it contained triggering content, but I needed to read for myself. I'm no loger sure of the decision to start (and finish) this book. Just like Ugly Love, the sadness and grief and hard truths are raw and very much needed. Unlike Ugly Love (at least for me), it was a hard read to swallow. I'm fortunate enough to not know the reality portrayed in this book, not even remotely, and it gutted me hard with every passing chapter.

I'm not giving it a 5 star review simply because it caused me too much pain as much as it entretained me. Colleen Hover is still one of my favourite authors, because her writing is f*cking spetacular, even if I've only read two of her books.
