Listening to this book on audio book was not a great idea since it's not polite to sob in public. The narrator, Kirsten Potter, is a talented reader, using the right amount of emotion in key scenes without going over the top. the story itself was heartbreaking and powerful. I plan on picking up the sequel as soon as possible.
It seems that Ghost Stories have diminished in the past few years in favor of paranormal romance tales. "Bad Girls Don't Die" is a great example of a how the Horror genre is still breathing despite the massive focus of vampires and werewolves. Horror still encompasses these two supernatural qualities but the frightening factor has becomes dimmed and has no real impact as it once had.
This is a great, fast read where the suspense flows well and you can connect with the characters. I couldn't help but compare it to Buffy in some ways, all in a positive manner. If you want to experience fun modern YA horror, picking up this book to read would be the best thing you need to do.
