A Bird in The Oven by Kata Cuic is a heartfelt Thanksgiving romance. I really enjoyed the friendship between Olivia and Oliver. I was a little put off by Oliver’s voice, but it eventually made sense as the book progressed. While Olivia doesn’t get her baby in this book, there are more to make up the Hectic Holidays series. This book has several steamy scenes. There are also some really emotional scenes. For being a short read it packed quite the punch.

The Nature of Fragile things by Susan Meissner is tale of a woman’s perseverance to make her life one of happiness. To get there though, Sophie goes through many trials. I really struggled with Sophie’s character. I just didn’t feel like she had a lot of emotions and that made it hard to relate to her. The author did a nice job taking the reader to the early 1900s San Francisco. Her description of the earthquake that rocked the city painted a heartbreaking tragedy. The tiny bread crumbs of Sophie’s past were done well and kept me curious what else she could be hiding; however, when finally get all the pieces the twist that takes place was not as jarring or twisty as I expected. Overall, I liked the setting best but struggled to relate with Sophie which left me not as into the actual plot of the story.

Love and Curse Making by Kelly St. Clare pulled me into a flirty and dangerous supernatural world that I didn't want to leave. The use of Greek mythology to diversify and explain the supernatural was well planned and creative. I couldn't get enough Cerys and her struggles, especially all the humorous dating disasters. I can't wait to see how Detective Devereaux breaks past Cerys's walls in future books. I absolutely loved this book and can't wait to read more Kelly St. Clare!

How It Started by T.S. Joyce was an emotional journey as Amos, Leanna, and Trevor figure out their place in the town, crew, and each other's lives. The way Amos and Trevor develop a relationship with each other was so heartwarming! I loved how Amos helped Leanna find the courage to be herself and take a stand against the people in the town who are so judgmental of her. How It Started was an excellent T.S. Joyce book and continuation of the Oath of Bane series.
