Not a huge difference from the movie... change in removing some of the racism, and complete change in casting Lana Turner in the lead role, but otherwise, very enjoyable.

Only got about half way through. I can't keep track of what is going on or who people are. I definitely prefer his other works.

Overall it was an enjoyable read, but I found it dull and boring for a murder mystery. The heroine wasn't particularly likable and the plot was extremely predictable. Strange things happened with the writing such as the protagonist suddenly having an affinity for religion, while in the entire first 3/4 of the book, church or god weren't even mentioned. So if you aren't a major connoisseur of murder mysteries, you may enjoy it.

Interesting ideas, but a lot of the articles were not well researched and had some inaccuracies that would have been cured by simply watching the film again. Interesting ideas, but again, frustrating.
