Good perspective on therapy. I found myself thinking differently about my therapy experiences. Some stories may be triggering. Check the warnings if you have trigger issues.

Not willing to read the details of child abductions and murder.

Started this because it was a book club pick. Realized a) I couldn’t attend that day, and b) I wasn’t really feeling it.

Pleasantly surprised by the twists and turns. Mostly didn’t guess them, couple that I was close ish on.

The Thousandth Floor

DID NOT FINISH: 3%

Did not finish. I read about 3% and honestly was easy to quit after the intro. Two things bugged me: the incest (which everyone is mentioning in their negative reviews) and the “it takes 3 minutes to fall off a 1000 story building”. It took me four seconds on google to verify my gut that this math is wrong. A few longer to get an estimate of actual time (25 seconds if no terminal velocity, which obviously matters, and still less than a minute with terminal velocity.) If they can’t get that kind of basic detail right and they don’t bother to even attempt to throw some futuristic “well the force fields every twenty floors slow the fall to an agonizing pace so we have more time to contemplate our imminent death” then I really see no hope.
Note; I hate quitting books, I will leave them on my currently reading list for YEARS.

This was not as light and fluffy as the book blurb made it look. If you have triggers, check the warnings or keep reading, but here be spoilers! I expected more 13 going on 30, and did not expect
oh wait that’s not a happy little pregnancy that’s surprise cancer. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I probably wouldn’t have picked it up if I knew there was so much family drama and learning to cope with death. I probably should have seen it coming since otherwise the author was kind of written into a corner.

But I did keep thinking about it in between sessions so that’s something. And I did get lost in it and need to know the outcome.

I spent so much of this book wondering what I was reading. I described a small part of it to my husband early on and he goes “you know you don’t have to finish it right?” It was just so weird.
I originally selected this because it is an X title and I do those silly alphabet challenges every year. I kept at it to get credit for the X and because it is short. If it had been longer I’m not sure I would have been able to read it. If you are going for short and different you may just have found what you’re looking for.
Not for me. An interesting side quest but not a new favorite.

Fluffy easy read for the end of the year. Very easy to love characters. Female lead is a little manic pixie dream girl, but it works. Lots of humorous moments and character … well, growth? No one feels broken before but they definitely make gains on areas they are already well progressed on.
There is a trope near the end that I don’t love but it doesn’t ruin it for me.
