Some things about this book really resonated with me, some not so much. How sad Julia and Rose wasted so much time, as well as Alice who never was able to make that choice for herself. I can relate to that so much.

This type of information is so fascinating to me. The US funeral industry is so focused on profits, which are reflected in our many limiting laws regarding final wishes. Our society definitely shies away from talking about death and what we want for ourselves and loved ones when we go and as a result we are disconnected to something every one of us will experience.
A lot of people loved this one, it just wasn’t for me.
Although I appreciate the message the author is trying to convey. Stop asking women why they stay.

Even though I don’t normally like romance novels too much, I found this to be a pretty cute and entertaining listen. Some people said the narrator’s voice sounded like a grandma, but it wasn’t something I noticed or bothered me. I thought the narrator did a great job with the content and even got some LOLs out of me.
Definitely racy!

I really enjoyed this book, I had zero knowledge of the Panama Canal and this offered some facts, but a human side to the history of the country and the canal. The author pulled from her own heritage and visiting family in Panama along with a lot of research. This book makes me want to learn more, the best kind of historical fiction in my opinion. Strong female characters too.
Love this collection.
Just a couple fav blurbs.
“I will allow myself the luxury to laugh daily and in liberal doses to overbalance the bitter compost called news.”
“When in doubt
Treat all sentient and insentient beings as kin.”
“A Universal Truth
Expanding
like the universe:
Teats, ass, feets.”
